Jon Song, Principal Consultant

Jon is an experienced senior manager that has worked in blue chip companies like Accenture, Jardine Matheson and Lloyd’s since 1995. Having risen to the position of CEO in various companies since 2009, he has managed teams and built effective organisations from cities in Asia to Europe, Americas to Africa. The industries he has worked include law, finance, banking, technology, management consulting, insurance, education, executive search, internet start-ups and in learning & development.

The focus of ThinkLab is to instill learning through experiential activities using behavioural science and gamified instructional design in Creativity, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Digitalisation (CELD). Believing that people are happiest when they make a difference in the world, Jon is passionately working with clients to create cutting edge programs to help professionals maximize their abilities. Besides using this unique game-based facilitation approach, a key expertise Jon has is developing engaging programs for clients including mini-MBA programs, strategy and creativity. Jon has also developed several Skillsfuture, WSQ (SSG sponsored) and IBF programs for clients.

Jon has considerable digital experience. He was a core Accenture team member that started one of Asia’s first internet bank finatiQ.com in 2000 where he developed and digitalized the banking and customer processes for the virtual bank. He later worked directly with the CEO at Jardine Onesolution to create technology service solutions, moving away from traditional hardware-based business in Hong Kong. While at Lloyd’s, Jon led the British team to digitalise and improve financial processes and also developed Asian-focused marketing programs for the three hundred year old insurance platform. He later started a few internet startups including a collaborative entrepreneurial platform for Asian business leaders using Agile RoR.

Jon has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California, a MBA from the Ivey School of Business (Western University) and attained the Leadership Executive Program from the London Business School. Jon is also a certified Master Trainer from Kotter International for their Change Management programs. In his free time, Jon enjoys competitive sports and also dabbles in game design and is still trying to create the perfect game that is one part finance, 2 parts strategy and all parts fun.
